Pet Smart Trip

Charlie was in much need of some supplies and we finally hooked him up! Apple bitter spray works very well for things we don't want Charlie to chew. And the nail clippers are awesome!

We also got Charlie a tall feeder so that his poor bones won't get old too fast and for his belly.

This Kong toy is amazing! You put a treat in one end of it and it keeps the dog busy for hours! :) We're talking quality of life here!

Charlie was one happy dog. He also got a new leash and coller!

Dishman!

See what's in Daniel's hands? Oh, yes! He's doing the dishes! For some reason it makes me love him more! HAHA. We haven't figured out WHY ... but hey, we shouldn't mess up a great thing! :)

And our little Charlie, I just had to share this picture of him! OH, he's so cute!

Play Date for Charlie!

Today was Charlie's first play date!
My friends Shelly and Matt came over after church for a BBQ and brought their dog, Biscuit!
Daniel took care of the introduction in the front yard.

Biscuit is a beautiful Golden Retriever! Notice Biscuit is paying NO mind to little Charlie! That's why she was a perfect dog for his first play date! Thanks Shelly!

They definately got to be great friends and Biscuit taught Charlie a thing or two about the social dog world. Such as, stop biting my face, it's not cool! LOL. Biscuit had to put Charlie in a his place a couple times! But Biscuit was a great dog for Charlie to be around. I'm learning more and more about the dog world and how dogs interact with each other. Not sure if I ever mentioned this, but I'm actually scared of big dogs. But the more I learn, the more I understand what dogs are doing and saying to each other with their body language and bark. Thanks to Cesar Millan, I think our dog will be an awesome dog!

Charlie is watching and learning!

At the end of Charlie's day, he was exhausted. Which meant lots of time for loving our little Charlie! Cesar says to give your dog affection when he's in this calm state so that he's rewarded for his calm and balanced state of mind! And I must say how awesome it is to love your dog when he's like this!
We had a last minute-throw together- BBQ today after church with two couples, Shelly and Matt and Merideth and Troy! We had a blast and the weather was amazing! We played catch with the football, we played basketball, the kids played, the dogs played, and it was an awesome day! What a great refresher for a great week!

Welcome Home, Charlie Jones!

Drum roll .......

This is our new Puppy! He was a Valentines gift for Daniel and the family! I thought it was a great way to share some LOVE on Valentines Day!

I have done my research for dog breeds and this one seems to be perfect for us! I did buy him at ... a Pet shop! I know ... I feel guilty about it. But I did get all the breeder information and saw pictures of some of the breeder's kennels and everything. The shop has been in business for about 30 years and has had the same manager for 19 years. All of the shop workers have pets themselves from these breeders as well. That made me feel better. So all background info was good and the breeders are not local- because many of the bad breeders are in VA! So ... my little Charlie was drivin in by the breeder himself from Kansas- no flight- no trauma!

I was scared the whole time - although we have agreed to get a dog- this is not how it was supposed to go down. I figured Daniel would freak a little, but he didn't! I couldn't believe it! He has been the MOST ATTACHED to Charlie! He loves him! He didn't even ask me how much I paid for him! It didn't matter because we all fell in love with him instantly!

We're reading this book (below) that has been awesome; Although we didn't do all the things necessary in the beginning for bringing puppy home ... because Charlie was a surprise. I hate that I didn't do it that way, but this is just how it all went down - can't change it now!

I have so much respect for Cesar and what he does with animals and I can't wait to see the result in our little Charlie!

We also ordered a DVD set from Cesar's series that we think will be a great help especially with the kids. It's called Mastering Leadership

So here we go down the road of doggie ownership and it's so FUN! Charlie became part of our "pack" from the start! Oh, we love him! What I keep thinking is ... Charlie's sister is still at the shop and I want her too! :O That's NOT going to happen though! LOL
