Who took my Kodak moments?

Hawaii Rainbow

I've recently been wanting to take pictures! I haven't really taken good pictures in a long time. A great thing about Hawaii was that there was always great photo moments! Daniel was gone a lot, so I was always documenting something or just taking pictures for fun. I haven't done much of that here and I miss it. I think in the morning, I'm going to go on a walk and get some good pictures of the area where I live. It's kind of in the country, so I should be able to get something, I hope.

I haven't even been into doing the FPSO's (Friday Photo Shoot Out) since I moved. I've got to get back into it all! I hate trying to MAKE a routine! I just want it to happen! I feel very all over the place and like nothing is as it should be. I think it's because I'm used to Daniel being gone and I had so much free time before. I got used to being alone and now I miss it sort of. It's crazy that I'm still adjusting to the move and everything. It seems like the adjusting should be OVER now!

Noe Noe Girl, if you happen to read this, can you drop a note to tell me what Friday's photo shoot out is? I'm going to TRY this week! I'll look for the next assignment in the meantime. Sometimes it's hard to find;)

Milk, Football, Grass, and Babysitting

Go GHS JV Football!

Last week, we finally got grass! It's been raining a lot so it set the grass people behind. They came and delivered the pallets and rolled it all out and now we have a yard. Our neighbors JFK the across street (they haven't moved in yet) stopped closing on their house until their grass was down. I guess it made everyone a little upset so they only put exactly what was needed in their yard and gave the extra to us!!! So we got like 6-8 feet deep section of our yard done for free! Daniel had to move their sprinklers around in return, but I think it was well worth it!

This is our new yard! How we've missed green grass! Mud is fun, too... all the tracking in dirt and mud... I'll miss it! JK.

I've met many of my neighbors and they are all great! Julie, she moved here about the same time we did, has 4 kids. One is Mason's age and so they play after school a lot. I'm so thankful for that. Mason has been needing a good friend to play with. She also has another son, John, he's autistic and one more son that's about 6 too. This is her only little girl. She's 20 months and her name is Erica. The kids have had lots of appointments with getting ready for school and all, so I've watched her a few times. She is so sweet! She helps me do whatever I'm doing and just hangs our with us. Since she has 3 brothers, I think she's pretty mellow!

We went to the Grassfield HS JV football game last night. Since I've been getting into football this year, it was a blast. Ally cheered her little heart out and we won! I can actually follow plays now and cheer at the appropriate time:). Daniel is loving my new found love for football.

And last, but not least... I got my milk delivered this morning! Glass containers that they reuse! It costs a little more than milk at the store, but it's all natural, from local farmers, supposed to taste better from glass, and you can reuse the glass containers! We are also looking for a local butcher. Daniel found one that I think we will check out today. I'm trying to cut out the actual grocery store all together. There is a produce stand about a mile down the road that sells home grown tomatoes, potatoes, onions, watermelon, etc. I'm going to buy from him soon too!

Okay, now I'm off to buy season tickets for Busch Gardens! I've been to Howl-O-Scream before and it's a BLAST! Now we can go with all of our visitors! This year they also have a Christmas Celebration too! That will be awesome!

More like Home

This is the FROG where serious Rock Band sessions will happen very soon!

This is the guest bath. I still need something small for the wall by the window. But I LOVE the purple and yellow together!

This is the living room. Not quite finished. When Daniel gets home he can take care of that space over the fireplace;).

These are the directors chairs I got from Pier 1. I love them!

The office..... is coming along SLOWLY!

This will be our little retreat space. This is where I drink my coffee, blog, play the keyboard, etc. It's not too cute right now, but over time it will get there!

Today was really productive! I think I have the worst parts of unpacking finished. The FROG is going to be the best room in the house! I can't wait for Daniel to come HOME!!! Three more days people! THREE!

Day 439 Without Furniture

Okay, So it hasn't been that many days without furniture... but it feels like it. I can't wait to get our stuff. I didn't think I would mind it so much. But now that everything has calmed down and my life doesn't revolve around work people in and out, I'm BORED!

Yesterday we went to the Cinema Cafe in the Mall here. It was really cool! We watched Night at The Museum 2. It was fun, but I still had that overwhelming feeling of BOREDOM. I think I need some adult time. I also think I need my HUSBAND to come HOME!
A few days ago, I saw that a friend of mine from Auburn (13 yrs ago) was on Facebook. I quickly read over her info and realized that she might be HERE in VA! I was so glad to talk to her. Our kids are so much older now. Her son is 16 and driving now! I can't believe it! So we spent a few hours on the phone catching up and tomorrow we're going to their house to hang out and swim in the pool. I can't wait! It was so nice to find her here.
This morning I started The Firm. I have really wanting to start exercising and my friend Amy was very encouraging in a recent post on Facebook about her workouts. So today was great! I feel really good- I'm sure tomorrow I will be CRYING because it was an intense workout. It says that I don't have to start with weights, but it was weird to not have weights, so I used them... HAHA. I'll feel it tomorrow!
I've been in contact with the company that shipped our stuff and things seem to be moving (literally) very slowly. I just hope that I can get everything and unpack it all by the time Daniel gets home so life will seem back to normal. Daniel found out that when he gets here, he DOESN'T have to go out to see right away. The trip was canceled! So now he gets to take leave from the boat to here and I can't wait!!!! It feels longer than the 6 month deployment. He's just missed so much. He has a new house, a new car, new area to live in, etc. We've also waited for this for SO long! Can we freeze time once he gets here? '
Friday Shootout Peeps- I will be back to posting soon.
Ally has a pool party for cheer today. I volunteered to be the social coordinator! I hope Mason and I can hit the beach today while she's there. We'll see. I took amazing photos of the beach the other day and LOST THEM ALL! I don't know how that happened! I was so mad. They were actually pictures to frame and put in my house! Black & Whites too! I hate it! So maybe I can get more today.
Toodles! I'm off to check up on all of you now!

Road Trips, Grandparents, Camping, and 4-wheeling! Part I

So here I am again, after thinking I would totally get to blog every night and I would be keeping up with my blog all through this move... no such luck! So I'll be playing catch up!

So we found our beautiful house in Virginia! While I was in VA, I stayed at my friend, Amy's house. She happened to call me the day before we were to fly out from Hawaii and say that she was going out of town and that we could stay at her house while she was gone. It worked out perfectly because she was gone the entire 10 days we needed a place to stay. Daniel joined us for 5 days of house hunting and then went back to Hawaii for a deployment.

We left VA to visit my friend in Kingsbay, GA! This was a 9 hour trip. We stayed there for a few days and had pedicures and let the kids play together. The weather was stormy and I LOVED every minute of it. In Hawaii we didn't get thunderstorms, so it was really nice!

We left GA and drove on to Titusville, FL. This was only 3 hours of driving! Ally and Mason got to spend some quality time my Granny and Papa! Mason even said to me, "Mom, I didn't know Granny was so fun. But after you get to know her, she's a blast!" That made me feel so good because I've always wanted them to spend more time with them!

We went to church with Granny and Papa on Sunday morning. My grandfather doesn't pastor this church anymore since he has retired, but they are both still very active in the church. We are very proud of our Papa! He is an Elder, a Bishop, and just recently earned his Doctorate in Theology at the age of 83! These people do NOT stop!

Papa made us tea and served a great southern meal that Granny cooked! Southerners love their cornbread and sweet tea!

Granny is very much into her heritage and has traced our family back to the 1700's. She loves her pictures!

Granny and Ally looking at old picures... of me when I was little.

This is my brother, Galen, and me when we were little. I love this one!

Mason had a great time with Granny and all of her crafty projects. Granny paints beatiful pictures! So we all sat down and had a lesson! Our paintings were terrible! LOL

This is my Granny Green! Isn't she cute?!
This is Granny and Mason trying to learn a magic trick!
This is Mason holding my Dad's football plaque. Granny is telling Mason about how his Papa used to play football! She can still remember everything about his football years.
We stayed in Titusville for about 5 days and then made our way to Oklahoma. I was supposed to go to a family reunion in the middle here, but I was given the wrong dates! So we had to move on to Oklahoma!
Sorry my pictures are all messed up with the captions! I'm so sick of trying to make it the way I want! I guess I've forgotten how to blog! In the preview everything is right.... the next one willbe better!

Virginia Arrival- June 28, 2009

I think I'm still in shock! It doesn't really feel like I actually moved. I feel like we're just visiting. I think it may set in once we have a house to live in. To catch you up, this is Thursday while the movers were at the Kapolei house.
The packers left my piano for last! It was in my room...

Then they moved it downstairs. I played the piano all day while they were there. It's not everyday movers get live entertainment while they work ;). I got requests too! We had a lot of fun! This is what Angie and have always done while we were getting moved.. play music and sing! The most popular song for the day was Piano Man by Billy Joel. The movers-locals- had never heard of BILLY JOEL! WHAT?

When we were finished on Thursday, we booked a room at the Navy Lodge on Ford Island. I got there and got dressed QUICKLY so that I could meet the wives for dinner. We did a little farewell dinner at Hickam Air Force Base. They do Mongolian BBQ on Thursdays and it's so good! I got my pretty platter and said goodbye! It was so sad. I hated leaving, but I was also glad to move on and get back to the mainland!

So after we were finished at the house on Friday, we went to Stacy's house to have dinner! It was really good and we love hanging out with them! Then we had to drive to Kailua and pick up Ang's car that we were borrowing.

The next day, Ally had taken a turn for the worst... she was sick! So we took her to a Saturday appointment on base and got lots of meds!

Then we turned in the G35! No more cars! I actually had no keys left on my key chain!

Before I knew it, it was time to go to the airport! Daniel drove us in Ang's car to the airport and we were OFF TO VIRGINIA!

Once we arrived to Norfolk, Kevin, from Toyota met us there and set us up with a loaner car. We left the airport and drove to our room at Oceana Air Station. We unloaded, got lunch (at SONIC -that we LOVE). Once we all ate and showered we were really tired so we took at nap. I woke up a few hours later and decided to go get my new CAR!!!

This is the building that our room is in. Although it looks really old and icky, the rooms are really nice. I actually have a new definition of old and icky though... have you seen the pictures from the camping trip to the N. Shore? Yeah... this is 5 star compared to that!

My new Prius has got to be right up there with my iPhone! It is just awesome! I'm so going to name her, too. Yes, it's a girl! I think a good name is Kortana! That's super geeky (from Halo) but I think I like it! She even talks to me! haha.

By the way.. I'm blogging via my new netbook! I sold my big laptop, so Daniel bought this one for me while I was having dinner with the wives! I love it! It's so perfect for traveling! I think I'm officially spoiled now! Oh, wait... after the house! Then I will be Spoiled ROTTEN!

And one last thing.... I saw fireflies! I totally forgot about fire flies! I love them. I got eaten by mosquitos while trying to get a picture, but here it is! haha. That's one little firefly!

Three Days Away!

Oh My Goodness! I can't believe that we're really about to leave the island! I've been packing and doing laundry and trying to keep things organized. It so isn't working out that way! My house is a mess!

Wednesday- I took Daniel to work so I can have the car! So glad I did that! The pre-move people come to see what they will need to move our household goods. I will use today to finish packing our suitcases and run errands. I think we may also do something with Paul and Angela tonight too! YAY!

Thursday- The packers come and will be here all day and I'm going to dinner with the wives from the wardroom to say goodbye. We're staying in a hotel (I think) but we don't have firm plans of where. Daniel is trying Lockwood Hall this morning sometime.

Friday- The packers come and finish packing and loading the crate! My house is never too big for needing more days than this! I'm proud of that! hahaha. I get rid of anything we don't need quickly!! We are also staying in a hotel this night too... somewhere.. not sure where again.

Saturday- Our flight from Honolulu to Chicago leaves here at about 4:20pm. From Chicago, I fly into Norfolk, VA. I don't have many plans for VA in place at the moment. I'll work on that today! I'm planning to stay with friends there. But I think for the first night I might be more comfortable at a hotel. We'll see. My ride from the airport is Kevin from First Team Toyota in Chesapeake. He will be picking us up from the airport in our NEW PRIUS! Now, that's service! I'm worried that our bags and us won't all fit! I'll have the weekend to lounge and learn the area.
On Tuesday, our real estate agent, Karen, will be showing me some new houses! I can't wait! I will for sure be taking lots of pictures of the houses. I think I need to buy a little mini laptop for uploading my pictures and everything. I haven't sold my old one yet though! I have been trying to sell it on Craigslist. Okay, I have a million things going on... More later.
