Happy Independence Day!

This time posting this picture means something different! It's ours!

Today, Daniel will be arriving from Hawaii! I can't wait for him to be with us and to see the new house and neighborhood we will soon be living in! Here's the scoop!

Wednesday afternoon, our wonderful real estate agent, Karen, took me house hunting! We looked at several houses. There were a few that I liked, but didn't LOVE. Everyone told me that when I saw the house, I would just know that it was the one! During our search, Karen thought of a great neighborhood that she thought I would like. She was very good at her job and knew from my input that a great neighborhood with active involved parents was very important to me. So she showed me a new construction house in the first place, but it wasn't right. The second place (which I blogged about) was the right one and I had the feeling that this was the one!

So I came home and talked to Daniel about it. I explained what kind of neighborhood, population, school district, ect. He was all for it and ready to make an offer- which freaked me out. I have been looking for so long on the internet, (which was pointless) I didn't imagine actually going through the motions to make an offer.

The next day we had several listings to look at in the V. Beach area. I called Karen and told her we were ready to make an offer. We made an offer at $10,000 below and the builder offered $3000 above that. Karen said she thought we should stick to our price and just be firm. So she made some calls and the builder accepted! YAY! The house is almost finished being built. Everything that's going on now is mostly cosmetic. They poured the driveway and patio 2 days ago. I can't wait to be in it with our stuff!

So here's the scoop on the house... it is 5 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a sun room, a FROG (that's huge), a Formal LR and DR, a Family room right off the kitchen, the sun room is right off the kitchen and the back patio is also off the kitchen. Once I get there again I will take better pictures to show. The laundry room is upstairs with the bedrooms. The master bedroom is really pretty with his and her walk in closets, the master bath has a jetted jacuzzi tub and separate shower and double sinks with a vanity in the middle. The other rooms are good sizes. One is a little smaller than the others... The upstairs is open and you can see over the banister down to the two-floor foyer. The best thing about it is the neighborhood. We've driven through a few times and saw many kids our kids' ages! There are many military families and the neighborhood is tucked away where you can barely see it. I think the neighborhood is going to be great! I'm trying to NOT go see the house everyday! I want to though! Today when Daniel gets here we will certainly go see it!

Here is a link to see a tour of this model- The Signature. This tour doesn't show the upgrades that I have though... just a few differences.

Tomorrow, we meet with Mary Beth to do bank stuff, then we meet with Karen to finalize the contract. We should close by the end of the month! The house should also be ready in this time frame! YAY! I can't believe we're buying a house! Thanks to Capt. Adams in Hawaii for referring us to Karen!

We're going to watch fireworks tonight ... not sure where. There's a place that does fireworks every Friday and Saturday, so I think we'll check that out and have some dinner to celebrate the 4th. Hope you all have a great Holiday and feel proud that we have the freedom we are so fortunate to have!

congratulations... the house is going to be perfect if sounds like. It's very pretty and you will enjoy having a new construction to start out with. Our home is new construction and although I like nice established properties...it's nice having everything NEW. Can't wait to see the progress...if you need to get away this summer- Manassas isn't that far of a drive from VA Beach. Come see me. We'll tour DC together...
